Vu Nguyen was born in Vietnam in 1977. He immigrated to the United States in the fall of 1989. He has been drawing and painting since childhood. Transitioning into a new culture was difficult but this brought him a new way of looking at and understanding art.

Vu studied at the Pennsylvania College of Art and Design with a BFA in the visual arts. His works can be defined as abstract/realism with images containing elements of narration and periods of transition.  He continuously explores techniques and representations of dimension and ways of seeing.  His paintings search for representations of space and state of memory.  These spaces have meanings that many of us may identify as familiar or distant.  

He has exhibited in solo and group shows in New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Maryland and shows at exclusively at Trowbridge-Lewis Galleries in Middleburg, Virginia in the Washington, DC area.
